Alumni Update: Joseph Taylor

Joseph Taylor, a former Cub and current starting forward at the University of Wyoming, was named Mountain West Conference Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 25. It was his first such honor since joining the Wyoming basketball program in 2006.

Taylor led the Cowboys to a 2-0 record with wins at Colorado State (77-67) and at home against Utah (72-64). The 6-7 senior forward scored a career-high 21 points, on 8-of-10 shooting from the field, while collecting nine rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Taylor followed with a 12-point, six rebound, two-blocked shot performance in the Cowboys’ win over Utah. Against the Utes, he converted on 55.6 percent of his field goals and tallied two blocked shots, one assist and one steal

For that week, Taylor averaged 16.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 1.5 steals per game, while shooting 68.4 percent from the field (13-for-19) and 75 percent from the free throw line (6-for-8).

Taylor was co-captain on LA City’s 2005-06 South Coast Conference Championship team and led the Cubs to the 2006 Final Eight behind a 32-4 record including 9-1 in the South Coast conference.
